One Day is the story of Emma Morley (Ambika Mod) and Dexter Mayhew (Leo Woodall, White Lotus), two college grads who after spending years being complete strangers - find themselves bonding over what their futures have in store for them.
After this night they would go their separate ways, but fate would guide these two back together each year, as we witness the next twenty years of their lives, the bond they forged, and the complex ways it would evolve over time.
One day isn’t just one day, it’s life in it’s purest form.
This was such a beautifully tragic depiction of two hearts that were aligned, but life was taking them in different directions.
Dexter is a charming go with the flow type who ends up becoming fascinated by Emma, who is an overly ambitious and driven woman that expects so much from herself - and those around her.
As flawed as these two may have been, I ended up falling in love with their love.
The two formed this swoon worthy connection that can’t be defined.
It’s an unassuming love that morphed as each year passed, at times they would deem each other “friends”, then their hearts would skip a beat and you knew they were destined for more than what they were letting on.
From the peaks and valleys, the highs and the lows, to the dull mundane moments of boredom, and everything in between - this is everything love endures.
I absolutely adored this. It was pure, heartfelt, honest, and by the end - it left me tearing up and broken.
Also, they may not look like your traditional romance pairing but Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall were fantastic together. This serves well as Ambika Mods introduction to the world, and continues Woodalls hot streak after his slick and slimy White Lotus performance.
One Day is a decade spanning love story, that will pull at your heartstrings, leave you teary eyed - and have you rooting for two people, that despite their flaws - were destined to be together.
