EYES OF WAKANDA šÆĀ
After starting off the summer strong with Predator: Killer of Killers, Disney+ has added another ass-kicking animated series to their platform with Marvel Studios latest storytelling venture, EYES OF WAKANDA.
EYES OF WAKANDA takes us on a journey through time as we witness the historic adventures of Wakandaās War Dogs, a group of elite spies that retrieve vibranium artifacts that are in the hands of the wrong people. From the Trojan War, to the Iron First, Wakandaās brave and bold tackle whatever mission comes there way in hopes of bringing back every piece that has been pillaged away from the mother land.
In a year where weāve had Thunderbolts turn into the New Avengers, Superman return to the big screen, and The Fantastic Four take on Galactus, Iām surprised that this ended up having my favourite superhero stories of the year.
Iāve said it before and Iāll say it again, thereās a generation of kids that are now adulting who are completely willing and able to enjoy mature stories in animated form. Predator: Killer of Killers was a victory lap for advocates of animated storytelling, and I believe EYES OF WAKANDA deserves similar respect.
When I first heard this was being made and that it was going to follow characters from the Black Panther films weāve already seen I had little to no care to watch it. Them shifting gears and choosing to navigate real life, historical events and reinvent those moments to add a comic book flare is something I didnāt know I needed. Seeing Wakandans in ancient China having to take on Iron Fist was awesome, and I will note Iām glad they didnāt nerf Iron First and make her weak, but instead made her a formidable foe that was a level higher than their War Dog counterparts. This series to me does what Star Wars Clone Wars Animated Series did for the prequels. It adds lore and legend to an already compelling story.
Eyes of Wakanda is a sweeping, century-spanning adventure that immerses audiences in the rich, fictional history of a proud and determined people.Ā
Enjoy!
